Steve is a graduate of Philosophy from the University of Ibadan . He also holds a post-graduate diploma in Journalism, and is a professional certificate holder in Public Relations of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). He has over five years experience as an HIV program developer. He is involved with the global movement on youth employment (YES) and is an active member of TakingITglobal.

At different times, he was a reporter/researcher with the Comet and Sun Newspapers. Steve was a program consultant for the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND), where he worked on the production of Kudirat: Steps in Time, a biography on the late Kudirat Abiola, among his other projects for the organization. He recently consulted for Freedom House-Nigeria to coordinate and organize the maiden Wole Soyinka Investigative Reporting Award, and the World Press Freedom day 2005.
